So let’s say you want to test your biking skills against the clock. Or get ready to pedal in a velodrome. Or you just want to go the distance – the 100 mile distance, that is. What you want is membership in the Century Road Club of America.
As the oldest cycling club in the nation, CRCofA has years and years of experience in helping cyclists become the best riders they can be. And with more than a few former Olympians and World competitors, you are in very, very good hands.
The club has activities for all levels, from reformed couch potatoes who are just learning how to shift gears to international-level and Amateur 1 Level racers who are on the fast track to become cycling pros. And lest you think you are over the hill, think again. They have even helped riders in their 80s compete and win in national level racing activities.
Even if you are short on competitive spirit, but long to have fun, there is room for you in the club, too. The members find all kinds of ways to combine riding with socializing. Among the many touring rides is the favorite Poker Ride. You ride a few miles, take a break for a hand or two of poker then hop on your bike again until it is time for the next poker break. There are also a number of family events where young bikers can join in youth level stock races.
