There are lots of ways to enjoy Ironwood Outdoor Center. Families can find relief from the summer heat with budget-friendly memberships to the 6,000 square foot pool. At rates w-a-y lower than other swim clubs in the area, families -- no matter how many kids they have -- can cool off for every day between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Ironwood is primarily for groups who can sign up for the rope course that includes a climbing tower, something called a "flying squirre,l" meaning your harness gets hauled up to the top of a tower and then dropped so you get to swing and fly around, and a zip line which looks like lots of fun. They also rent canoes and kayaks to paddle around in the Rancocas Creek, but again, only to Scout troops, school and church groups, community organizations and other groups who sign up for their programs.
But for individuals, all is not lost. If you have your own canoe or kayak, you can put in at Ironwood at no charge. And between dawn and dusk, anyone is welcome to hike the two miles of trails that wind around the property. And if you are hankering for a ride on that cool zip line, just wait for one of Ironwood’s public programs. Then you’ll get to come in and use all the rope course facilities and take part in their environmental education programs and other activities.
