Situated on a 194-acre coastal habitat, the Lighthouse Center is surrounded by tidal streams, salt marshes and tidal streams that turn into an eye-popping outdoor classroom, filled with wildlife, birds and rare plants. Study topics include: watershed exploration; Diamondback Terrapins; Maritime Forest; Bay Life; Shorebirds; Rain Garden; Wetlands Ecology; and Pioneer Homesteads. You bring the people and the staff supplies pre- and post-visit study activities, worksheets, field guides and other all the equipment your group will need for a fun, educational experience.
Even if you aren’t part of a group, you can take advantage of all the amazing natural wonders at the Lighthouse Center – if you are a member. Sign up and then bring your binoculars for some amazing birding – more than 130 species of birds have been sighted here. You’ll also be able to join in the Center’s guided hikes, educational programs and other activities.
