That crisp autumn breeze can only mean one thing. The cranberries are ready for picking and the historic city of Bordentown is ready to party. Each October, the town goes bonkers over the little red berry with a festival that stretches up and down Farnsworth Avenue.

Over the course of the weekend as many as 400,000 people roam the charming downtown streets sampling goodies made of cranberries -- jams, breads, muffins, cakes, cookies and all kinds of other cranberry treats.

But for as great as the cranberries are, there is way more fun in store. Throughout the day, music echoes up and down the avenue. Which is a nice background to all the fine arts and crafters who are chosen to display their wares. More than 100 artisans are chosen to exhibit their hand-crafted creations and you can find anything from delicate jewelry to hand-carved wooden objects.

Each year, the vintage auto show is one of the highlights. Even if you don’t know a gear shift from a crank shaft, you can’t help but be drawn to the gleaming, shining autos from past decades. Dozens and dozens of cars are on display and their proud owners are glad to take time to tell you how they restored their “babies.”

BRING THE FAMILY

Sure, bring 'em all.  There are all kinds of activities that will keep the kids happy and after chowing down on all kinds of foods made of cranberries, older folks will appreciate the town's interesting and diverse architecture.

COME PREPARED

Parking can get tight later in the day so arrive early to get a spot.
