After you’ve spent a morning at Collingswood Farmers Market, you won’t want to waste Saturday mornings sleeping in. This lively farmers market stretches along several blocks and has developed into a weekend social scene. From May through November, farmers and merchants line up between Collings and Irving Avenues with their fresh-from-the-fields produce.
And just about everything is from local farmers and merchants who all adhere to the “Jersey Fresh” requirements for freshness and quality. And just in case you don’t have a clue what to do with all the seasonal fruits and veggies, the cooking demonstrations will give you some ideas. Be there by 10 a.m. so you can see what the guest chefs are whipping up.
Although produce is the star of the show, you can also stock up on fresh-baked breads, tarts, pies, and quiches, as well as hand-crafted soaps, ciders, fresh flowers and plants, cheeses and meats and poultry. And with the live music playing in the background, you won’t ever want to deal with a supermarket again.
Oh, and during November, the market opens stands for crafters and artisans to bring their wares. It's a great way to do your holiday shopping while supporting local artists.
