Whitesbog Blueberry Festival
Who knew one little blue berry could stir up such interest. But it does. The annual festival is one of the largest must-see events in South Jersey.

For one day every year, the humble blueberry is the center of attention as thousands flock to Historic Whitesbog to celebrate the Pinelands' famous fruit. From the minute the gates open, guests clamor for everything blueberry . . . and this festival delivers. Baskets of blueberries and foods made of blueberries are on the menu. Kids can display their talents with berry-themed crafts or a blueberry pie eating contest. Local artisans display their hand- made one-of-a-kind crafts. And the culture of the Pinelands is on display with lively traditional music and tours of Historic Whitesbog.

Throughout the day, visitors can learn the history of the Pinelands and the role the region played -- and still plays -- in the State's agricultural heritage with guided tours of the nearby cranberry bogs. Whitesbog's general store, one of the restored buildings in the Whitesbog comples, is hopping with activity too as visitors shop for country crafts and collectibles.

BRING THE FAMILY
If ever there was a festival made for families, this one is it with something for everyone.
COME PREPARED
When we say get there early, we aren't kidding. Cars start arriving as early as 8 a.m. and by 11 a.m. the lines to get in can be discouragingly long. So get there early.
WHO KNEW
Before it became the center of the blueberry industry, before the turn of the 20th century Whitesbog was a major cranberry producer and employed more than 600 people as pickers, most of whom lived in company-owned houses in nearby villages.
JERSEY DEVIL SIGHTINGS

Jersey Devil loves blueberries.  He must since he has shown up in Browns Mills five times in the last 25 years.  But he's not so big into crowds so odds are, he won't show up at the festival.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the festival.  Dozens of volunteer opportunities are available from helping direct traffic to staffing booths, giving tours and more.  Contact Whitesbog for details.
SUPPORT

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT

LEAVE NO TRACE
