For one day every year, the humble blueberry is the center of attention as thousands flock to Historic Whitesbog to celebrate the Pinelands' famous fruit. From the minute the gates open, guests clamor for everything blueberry . . . and this festival delivers. Baskets of blueberries and foods made of blueberries are on the menu. Kids can display their talents with berry-themed crafts or a blueberry pie eating contest. Local artisans display their hand- made one-of-a-kind crafts. And the culture of the Pinelands is on display with lively traditional music and tours of Historic Whitesbog.
Throughout the day, visitors can learn the history of the Pinelands and the role the region played -- and still plays -- in the State's agricultural heritage with guided tours of the nearby cranberry bogs. Whitesbog's general store, one of the restored buildings in the Whitesbog comples, is hopping with activity too as visitors shop for country crafts and collectibles.
