Just thinking about it makes you smile. A day of tubing along the Delaware River. And it is something the whole family can enjoy. In addition to the usual single and double tubes, Delaware River Tubing has an exclusive three-seater tube so the family can bob along together. The tubes also come in small sizes for the youngsters and medium and large sizes for older tubers. They even have handles so you can get them in and out of the water pretty easily.

As for the trip itself, you’ll be on the river for about three or four hours. That stretch of the Delaware has a mild current and no rapids so it will be a relaxing, easy trip. Now you might be asking yourself, ‘if we’re out on the river all day, how will we eat?’ Not to worry. In an exclusive Delaware River Tubing deal, your ticket price includes a choice of meal, meaning you won’t have to worry about carrying money – which would only get soaking wet anyway. After a few hours of floating along, your meal will be served to you on the river by none other than the famous Hot Dog Man, who serves hot dogs, burgers, BBQ, kosher hot dogs and other treats from his pontoon boat food stand in the river.

At the end of the trip, hop the shuttle back to your starting point where they have changing rooms so you can get out of your wet clothes. Just what you’ll need to get spiffied up to spend the rest of your day in the towns of Lambertville, Frenchtown Square and New Hope which are all right nearby.

BRING THE FAMILY

With rafts or tubes that hold one, two or three people (that one is a Delaware River Tubing exclusive), the family can bobble along all together. They also have tubes with bottoms in them for youngsters.

COME PREPARED

Leave the designer clothes and Manolo's at home. Everything is going to get soaked so wear shorts or bathing suits and old sneakers or water shoes. And leave the booze at home. Alcohol is not allowed on the river.  Finally,  if the weather looks like rain, call ahead because if there is even a hint of a big rainstorm, they don't send out the tubes. They're serious about safety.

WHO KNEW

Hot Dog Man has been serving hot dogs on the Delaware River since 1987 after quitting his job as a copier salesman.

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT

No stops within walking distance of location.

LEAVE NO TRACE

If you eat or drink along the river, keep your trash with you until you get back to the check-in center and can throw it out.  Don't even think about throwing stuff in the river.
