Follow the path that leads into the woods at Camp Crockett County Park and you’ll come across a stream that is teeming with wildlife. And it doesn’t matter what time of year you go there. You’ll always find something interesting – wild turkey and dark-eyed junco during the winter, wildflowers and songbirds during the spring, migrating ducks and butterflies in the fall. And during the summer, just use the boat launch to dip your canoe or kayak into the lake and enjoy a lazy afternoon paddling around and getting a close-up look at the turtles, dragonflies and other denizens of the waters.

Bring a picnic lunch and hang out in the sheltered picnic groves. And with playground areas for the kids right nearby, parents can enjoy a little peace and quiet while the kids climb, crawl and have a grand old time.

BRING THE FAMILY

A family-friendly environment for enjoying nature. Camp Crockett also includes facilities such as a sheltered picnic area and a playground.

COME PREPARED

From November 1st to April 15th, no one is on site at the park so you'll have to call ahead to the Salem County Buildings and Grounds Office to have the access gate unlocked. It can take up to an hour for them to get there and if you plan to come on a weekend, it is best to call the Friday before.

WHO KNEW

There is a path at the edge of the lawn that leads into the woods.  Don't miss it because it leads to a stream that is home to all kinds of frogs, salamanders and various other amphibians.

LEAVE NO TRACE

During the spring and summer, the place is blooming with wildflowers.  But don't pick them. Leave nothing but your footprints and take nothing but your memories.
