Follow the path that leads into the woods at Camp Crockett County Park and you’ll come across a stream that is teeming with wildlife. And it doesn’t matter what time of year you go there. You’ll always find something interesting – wild turkey and dark-eyed junco during the winter, wildflowers and songbirds during the spring, migrating ducks and butterflies in the fall. And during the summer, just use the boat launch to dip your canoe or kayak into the lake and enjoy a lazy afternoon paddling around and getting a close-up look at the turtles, dragonflies and other denizens of the waters.
Bring a picnic lunch and hang out in the sheltered picnic groves. And with playground areas for the kids right nearby, parents can enjoy a little peace and quiet while the kids climb, crawl and have a grand old time.
