Lake Lenape Park is your one-stop shop for family fun. The 2,000 acre Atlantic County park is one of those something-for-everyone places. First of all, there is the lake. It is huge and is equipped with a boathouse and launch so you can load in your boat and chill out for a day (7:30 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset) on the water. Motor boats are permitted and you’ll need a $5 permit, but since that is good for a year of boating, you can’t beat the amount of affordable fun.

Back-to-nature campers will enjoy the low-key atmosphere of Lake Lenape’s 18 tent-only campsites. Unlike a lot of tent campgrounds, you can drive here which makes things pretty convenient. The campsites are surrounded by tall trees and most border the edges of the Lake. Porta-johns and pumps with potable water are scattered throughout the campsites so you don’t have far to go. And you can shower off at the boat house which is right there, too.

Even if you are only there for an afternoon picnic, you’ll find picnic tables and a playground where the kids can climb, swing and burn off energy. Keep an eye on them, but also keep an eye on the skies and you can spot dozens of species of birds, especially bald eagles which are frequent winter visitors.

BRING THE FAMILY

There's so much to do here, kids won't know where to head first… over to the playground equipment… or straight to the ball courts and fields.

COME PREPARED

Sorry, but if you plan to camp here, you'll have to leave Fido at home. Only service animals are permitted to spend the night at Lake Lenape.

WHO KNEW

With the lake in the background and a cute little gazebo, Lake Lenape Park is a popular spot for weddings and special events.  To reserve the gazebo for your wedding or other social to-do, send an e-mail to vizzi_greg@aclink.org.

JERSEY DEVIL SIGHTINGS

Lake Lenape Park is smack in the middle of May's Landing which is one of the Jersey Devil's favorite haunts. He has shown his ugly little face here in 1930, 1960, 2000, 2003, and 2007. So watch out.  He just might crawl right into your tent with you!
