So, say you have to get clothes for the kids and a new handbag and earrings for for Aunt Sally’s birthday. But you need a haircut and have to get your eyeglasses prescription filled, get new tires for the car and get the vacuum cleaner repaired. You could run all over town.

Or you could drop by the Berlin Farmers Market and take care of it all in one fell swoop.

The indoor-outdoor market is one of the oldest and largest on the East Coast and with 150,000 square feet, 85 indoor booths and space for another 700 vendor spaces outdoors, if you can’t find it at Berlin Farmers Market, it probably hasn’t been invented yet.

OK, so that’s a slight exaggeration. But only a slight one. The selection of merchandise in the indoor market, which is open every Thursday through Sunday (10 a.m. – 9 p.m., except Sunday when it closes at 6 p.m.), is as diverse as the shoppers. As you wander up and down the aisles, you’ll find everything from a grocery store, locksmith, greengrocer, and spice shop to home furnishings, wallpaper, fresh produce and kids’ clothing. There is lots more, too.

Outdoors, vendors can set up shop anywhere from one week to a month so what you find there one week could be completely different the next, especially when the crops come in and the farmers are bringing whatever they’ve picked from the fields. The outdoor section – all 700 stalls of it – is open Saturday and Sunday only (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) weather permitting.

BRING THE FAMILY

When they say "something for everybody," they aren't messing around.  The Market is a great place to stock up on school supplies, new threads, electronics, auto supplies, pet supplies and more.  And that pretty much covers everyone in the family, doesn't it?

COME PREPARED

This place is huge so wear comfy shoes.  You'll need them.  And bring a little more money than you think you will spend because you are bound to find something you just can't live without.
