Indian Acres Tree Farm
They call it a tree farm, but Indian Acres Tree Farm is so much more. Throughout the year, they host special events -- Halloween hauntings, pumpkin picking, craft fairs and of course, holiday trees and trimmings.

Which Indian Acres Tree Farm you see depends on when you visit. The family-owned 50 acre tree farm has lots of activities that will keep you coming back, especially during the fall.

Best known for their Christmas trees, Indian Acres can have your whole place lit up for the holidays. They have fresh-cut trees from their own farm – all sizes and varieties so you can find one that will fit your house and your budget – as well as Maine Balsam Firs and Pennsylvania-grown Frasier Firs. And since there is nothing worse than a naked tree, their gift shop is packed with all the tchatchkes, lights, tree-hangers and other items you need to get your house in the holiday mood.

But there are other holidays and Indian Acres Tree Farm helps you celebrate those, too. Halloween is a big deal here with their Eerie Acres Wagon hayrides and Haunted Corn Maze. If you dare, take a walk through their Untamed Forest, where more than 100 costumed actors will scare the you-know-you-what out of you.

Even when there isn’t a big-time holiday, Indian Acres has a busy calendar with activities such as the Annual Craft Show and Kids Fun Fair. Be prepared to hear “can we, can we?” when the kids see the barrel train ride, pony rides, Hoppity Hop race track, playground activities and other things that will make you smack your head when you realize you forgot to bring your camera.

BRING THE FAMILY

There is scary stuff for the older ones, barrel rides, the Jumpin' Pumpkin and playground activities for the younger ones, a gift shop . . . yeah, this place has something for everybody in the mini-van.

COME PREPARED

In the past, the owners of Indian Acres Tree Farm let you choose and cut your own Christmas tree.  Unfortunately, their selection is too spread out and the trees are not all large enough for that this year. Instead, you can let them do the work and choose a tree from one of their pre-cut options.

WHO KNEW

The Christmas tree tradition can be traced back to 16th century Germany.  No specifics on the exact date or which town started it, but records from the Cathedral of Strasbourg make note of one in 1539.

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT

No stops within walking distance of location.

LEAVE NO TRACE

If you’re brave enough to venture out into the corn fields for a haunted hayride, keep your hands and feet inside the back of the wagon. And don’t even think of throwing anything out into the fields or at the costumed actors.
