No matter your age or experience, the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club has a sailing program just for you. And if you have that competitive itch, LEHYC has been known to host a regatta or two.

Blessed with the some of the finest protected sailing waters, LEHYC junior sailing programs begin at age 7, where children learn and compete in the Optimist Dinghy.  As children become more comfortable, they move up to Lasers and Club 420s.

But all the fun on the water isn’t just for the kids. LEHYC conducts weekly senior racing in E-Scows, Marshall Sanderling Catboats, Lightnings, M-Scows and Lasers.  The Club also hosts several regattas every summer including the annual Down Bay Invitational in August and The Barclay Cup team race, which is the oldest active sailing trophy in the state of New Jersey.

And guess what? Yachting is only one of the many activities LEHYC promotes. LEHYC has an extensive tennis program that is conducted on their six hard courts, an active group of fisherman, a bocce club, art group, bridge, book club, exercise classes and a wonderful volunteer organization.

BRING THE FAMILY

LEHYC is dedicated to getting all members of the family involved with water sports and Little Egg Harbor social events, especially kids!

LEHYC has always had a strong history of youth involvement. In the late 1920s, Edgar S. Nash started the "Skippers," a program designed for boys under seventeen that included activities such as water safety, canoeing, swimming, and sailing. Not to be outdone, Mrs. Leroy Leighton organized "Skipperettes," a similar program for girls.

Today, over one hundred children participate in sailing, tennis, and other activities at Little Egg Harbor each summer. They have their own clubhouse, the Molly Allison, in memory of a Skipperette from the 1960s.

WHO KNEW

Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club’s highly skilled and respected race committee has twice been awarded US Sailing’s prestigious St. Petersburg Trophy for excellence in race management.

VOLUNTEER

LEHYC is an all volunteer organization, meaning that all of their activities are managed by member-volunteers who enjoy the camaraderie of working together.

SUPPORT

Each year, LEHYC hosts a benefit to fund raise for Southern Ocean County Hospital and the Beach Haven Fire and First Aid organizations. LEHYC members are encouraged to attend this event and support local organizations.
