Mercer County Waterfront Park
There's nothing like rooting for the home team at Mercer County Waterfront Park. Great site lines, lots of family activities, wallet-friendly pricing and a good game of minor league baseball with the Trenton Thunder.

What’s better than a day (or evening) at the ballpark? A day (or evening) at a smallish – but not too small - stadium where you can get river views, skyline views and no matter where you sit, you are almost right in the center of the action. And since you never know which of the Trenton Thunder will turn into super stars (Juan Padilla, Dioner Navarro, Nomar Garciaparra and Andy Phillips all played for the TT), you want to be close enough to watch their every move.

Home to the NY Yankees AA farm team, Mercer County Waterfront Park not only offers good site lines, it offers a good family experience. Waterfront Park is modern enough to offer conveniences and amenities that you want, but has old-fashioned charm that might make you want to jump up and sing “Take Me Out To the Ball Game.”

The best part is Waterfront Park is very, very affordable. Even the priciest tickets are inexpensive – about what you’d pay for a movie – and the concession prices won’t break the budget. Whether it is fireworks, giveaways, or some wacky promotion, there is almost always something going on . . . and we don’t mean just baseball.

Round up a group and you can have your own section in the picnic grove. And if you are one of those folks who still dreams of having your picture on a baseball card, you can train on the field with coaches and players during the summer baseball camp.

BRING THE FAMILY

First, there is the family-friendly pricing.  After the games, kids can go down on the ballfield and run the bases, just like the players.  And then there is the Boomer's Kids Club with all kinds of goodies like t-shirts, autograph sessions and other benefits.  Oh, and did we mention fireworks? Check the team's schedule to find out when the pyrotechnics go off.

COME PREPARED

You can root, root, root for the home team but you can't smoke, smoke, smoke.  The Waterfront Park is a smoke free facility so leave the cigarettes at home.  And the food and beverages too.  You can't bring them into the stadium.

WHO KNEW

Where does the term “farm team” come from? Seems when 1930s St. Louis Cardinals general manager Branch Rickey organized the minor league system, some major league players joked that teams in small towns were “growing players down on the farm like corn.”

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT

The RiverLINE's Cass Street station is located just a few blocks from the stadium. You can also take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line to South Clinton Avenue and then transfer to the RiverLINE. Amtrak also has a stop on South Clinton where you can transfer to the RiverLINE.

LEAVE NO TRACE

It is a ball park so a few peanut shells aren't a problem.  But when it comes to bottles and food containers, that's a different story. Look for and use the recycling bins that are placed throughout the ballpark.
