If you have three or four hours, Triple T canoes has everything you need for an afternoon of quiet fun along Cedar Creek in Double Trouble State Park. With canoes, otter kayaks and loon 111 kayaks, you can venture into the Pinelands and discover the flora and fauna that you won’t find anywhere else.

Triple T has two drop-off points and one pick-up spot so you can opt for a shorter or longer adventure. Cedar Creek meanders along about 5 mph and with no rapids, you’ll have a quiet, relaxing time as you paddle deep into the wilderness. And we do mean wilderness. No restrooms, no fancy facilities, just a laid back trip that will reduce your stress-o-meter rating by about one thousand percent.

If you think you’re going to get hit by hunger pangs while you are gone, pack a picnic lunch. The Triple T store sells snacks, beverages and water but don’t offer food services.

Triple T is open Thursday – Sunday, May through September. July gets pretty busy so it is wise to call ahead. They don’t hole deposits – they just take your but if your plans change, they ask that you call them to let them know.

They’ll take your name (but won’t charge your credit card) but if you can’t make it, they do ask you let them know.

BRING THE FAMILY

As long as they are over five years of age, bring the kids along.  But the younger kids will have to wait to turn the big "5" before they can join in the fun.

COME PREPARED

Wear a pair of old sneakers or water shoes and slather yourself in sunscreen.  Insect repellant is a good idea and even if you aren't usually a hat person, it is a good idea to wear one to protect yourself from burning rays.  Glass and styrofoam containers aren't allowed and be sure to bring plastic bags so you can take your trash out with you.

WHO KNEW

The jury is out on how Double Trouble State Park got its name.  One version has it that it came by its name after the dam at Cedar Creek was washed out twice in one season.  Another story comes from workmen who repaired the dam after muskrats chewed away at it.  When a leak sprung up, the alarm "Here's trouble" rang out.  One day, after two breaks were discovered, a workman shouted out "Here's double trouble."  However it got its name, the Park offers double the fun for visitors.

JERSEY DEVIL SIGHTINGS

Seriously, you think the big JD can paddle a canoe?  Those wings of his would get in the way.
