Go take a hike! And the place to do it is the Dorothy Preserve. The 337 acre preserve sits in the Pinelands and depending where you are, you’ll see something very different. One side of the Dorothy Preserve is thick with oak and pine forests and Atlantic White Cedar and all the birds and wildlife that like to hang out in that kind of environment.
Meanwhile, on the southern end of the preserve is a rare environment called the Pine Barrens Savanna. There isn’t much tree coverage at this end so what you’ll find here are a lot of native grasses and wildflowers, including Blazing Star, Still Leaf Aster and Little Blue Stem.
