Take a side trip on Seven Bridges Road in Tuckerton, NJ and turn onto Great Bay Boulevard. Along this scenic drive, points of interest include:

  • Tuckerton Shell Mound: This island of shells hosts a stand of several red cedars. The Mound is believed to be 1500 years old and was a shell refuse for the Lenape Indians and their ancestors. For historical and archaeological reasons, access to the shell mound is not permitted.
  • Crab Island Fish Factory: The now abandoned factory was built in the 1930s and was in operation until the 1970s.
  • Tucker's Island: To look for Tucker's Island, travel to the end of the road, park, and walk to the beach. On the lefthand side, you will see the sandbar that has begun to form. Many believe this is the beginning of the resurgence of Tucker's Island.
  • First Marina Bridge: Returning from the point and after crossing the last bridge, look for the First Bridge Marina on your left. The Marina offeres kayak ecotours of Great Bay and free launches for those who want to explore solo.
