Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge

For injured wildlife, the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge is a safe haven where they are nursed back to health and whenever possible, released back into the wild. For nature lovers, Woodford is a quiet preserve in the heart of the Pinelands where you can walk the secluded trails, join in educational programs and activities or visit the cute - and not-so-cute - wild things that the Center’s staff feed and rehabilitate.

Bordentown City

Situated at the northern tip of Burlington County and bordering Mercer County, it is at the crossroads of the American Revolution. This "a little city...with a lot of charm" offers visitors a pleasant diversion. The town's beautiful and historically significant architecture houses many interesting shops and restaurants, as well as a friendly and caring community.

Samuel Crowley III

As a retired sea captain, Samuel Crowley III, established the foundations for Crowleytown in Burlington County and precipitated the town's legacy of glassworks. Crowley began building the town in 1851 and by 1857 it had a glass house, 17 residences, a store and blacksmith shop, and school.

Smithville Mansion Complex

Talk about lots to do. You could arrive early at the historic Smithville Mansion Complex and find something to do until the sun goes down. The 18th century Greek Revival mansion, once owned by the owner of the company town that bears his name, is surrounded by a 280 acre park that has trails, picnic areas, historic village and picnic areas for family fun.

Ted Gordon is one of the Pine Barrens' leading historians and botanists. In the 1950s, Gordon traveled through the vast Pinelands in search of the area's numerous ghost towns. Gordon has also been a president of the Philadelphia Botanical Society (1988-2000) and a former NJ Pinelands Commissioner. He also works as a research specialist in rare and endangered plant species and leads groups on trips and tours of the Pinelands.

The Cranberry Festival of Chatsworth

For lovers of hand-crafted art objects, antiques, and of course, cranberries, the Chatsworth Cranberry Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated festivals. More than 200 artisans exhibit their works during this juried crafts show. Food is plentiful and some recipes are specially made just for this event. And of course, there is music, demonstrations and other activities that celebrate the traditional culture of the Pine Barrens.

This 1904 Victorian, nestled amongst the shops and restaurants of downtown Medford, provides a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Each of the Iris' nine unique guest rooms has its own bath, cable TV, air conditioning and wireless internet. A homemade full breakfast is served each morning. Located less than one hour from Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, this is the perfect spot for a weekend get-away.

Theodore Corson Wheaton

Early 19th century entrepreneur, Theodore Corson Wheaton founded the TC Wheaton & Co. Glass Works in Millville, NJ. His innovation brought a unique industry to South Jersey and established a legacy of glass artistry and originality. Wheaton's grandson, Frank Hayes Wheaton Jr., developed Wheaton Village from inspiration attributed to his grandfather's work and hometown.

Triple "T" Canoes

At Triple T Canoes, you won’t be up the creek without a paddle. Triple T will send you up Cedar Creek in Double Trouble State Park with everything you need for a quiet afternoon on the water – canoes, kayaks, life jackets, paddles, oars and drop-off/pick-up service. Take your pick of a three or four hour adventure along the calm waters of the Pinelands.

Tuckerton Seaport Museum

Cruise along the boardwalk that winds through Tuckerton Seaport 40 acres and you’ll not only travel into different centuries, you’ll discover the culture of the men and women whose lives are defined by the Barnegat Bay. Throughout the Seaport’s wetlands, maritime forest, and 17 original and re-created buildings, including boatbuilding centers, museum exhibits, and a real working wooden charter boat.

Wharton State Forest

It is amazing how many activities, species of wildlife, unusual plants and other natural wonders can be packed into 115,111 acres. Name it and chances are, you can find it in Wharton State Forest, the largest single land tract within the NJ system of parks and forests. Throughout Wharton are rivers and streams for canoeing, trails for hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, historic landmarks and secluded areas for camping and spotting wildlife.

Whitesbog Blueberry Festival

When Elizabeth White cultivated the first blueberry early in the 20th century, she couldn't have foreseen how the little fruit would become so popular it would have its own festival. Held at Whitesbog Village, the birthplace of the blueberry, the day-long event celebrates everything blueberry and features tours of local bogs, music, entertainment, children's crafts and other activities that celebrate the culture of the Pinelands.

Whitesbog Historic Village

Standing in front of the turn-of-the-century general store, you can almost imagine Historic Whitesbog Village when it was a bustling company town and the center of New Jersey’s cranberry and blueberry industries. Surrounded by pine forests, cranberry bogs and trails winding throughout Whitesbog Village, many of Whitesbog’s historic buildings still stand.

William McCarty

William McCarty was the founder of one the first paper mill in South Jersey and its adjacent town, McCartyville. His Wading River Manufacturing and Canal Company was considered one the most succesful in its time, partly due to McCarty eagerness to try ventures and experiment with different production materials.

Come for wine tasting, local crafts, pony and helicopter rides, music--and of course some of the best wine in South Jersey. Tickets are $8, and advance sales are available at our website, www.valenzanowine.com. Tents available for private parties.
